The Fifth World Congress of Psychogeography

Held on Sunday, 12th October 2025, the first-ever 5WCoP (the day after the last-ever 4WCoP) featured three walks and a social. We ran with the help of Swansea Arts Weekend! Big thanks to them!
Walks
Sun Chasers and Shadow Hunters with Tatiana Bodnar https://swanningaround.uk/
Here we embarked on a participatory derive and zine exploring the materialities of Swansea city centre. Participants followed the sun and traced shadows as they explored the city, creating a fleeting snapshot of the city at a particular time.

Hiraeth and ‘Y Filltir Sgwar’: Longing and Belonging
with Jenny Alderton eloquentscream.com

Participatory walk. Through site-specific prompts, we engaged with concepts of Hiraeth and Y Filltir Sgwar, as well as notions of longing, belonging, and home. Through the wistful, relaxed walk, dialogues were created with the city, within the group, and with the general public. Spontaneous interventions, invitations, and responses to prompts from participants and the members of the public appeared along the route.
Swansea in Gloom
With Jamie White Swansea In Gloom Walking Tour

Jamie White hosted an eye-opening walk around High Street, bringing in tales of ghosts, murders and debauchery, connecting the present with the past. Telling us about the twice-hanged man, the ghost of Powell Street or the hidden bones of Mary Shelley’s sister. We touched the scars of the three-night blitz and stood on the edge of a mass grave. Seeing the city through a different lens, Jamie transported us back to medieval Swansea and to a busy port town full of pubs, brothels, and dirty dealings.
